I did this in PSP XI you may need to make a few slight adjustments when doing it
in an older version.
Ok grab your Brain food, and whatever else you may need or like to have while
PSPing.. LOL!
Ready? Cool, let get tagging!
Open a new image 500 X 500 pixels Background color: #ebeed4.
Right click and copy the “BluebirdWinterHome” tube and paste it onto your canvas
as a new layer. And then grab your mover tool and move it up towards the top.
Now copy the bear with marshmallows tube and paste it onto your canvas as a new
layer.
Now make your bottom layer active, and go to selections – select all –
selections - modify - contract - by 10 – selections - invert. Now add a new raster layer. And
flood fill this layer with either a gradient or a solid color of your choice.
Select none. Now you can either add an inner bevel to this layer or you can use
Eye Candy 5 Impact – Glass to add a glass effect to it. I used the Eye candy to
do mine.
Now Move this layer up one, so it is above the blue bird house but under the
bear. Now I placed my bear tube down and to the right so it would overlap the
frame just a little bit.
Now grab your freehand tool and set it to Point to Point.. add(shift) feather:0
and draw around the flames of the fire ( see example below)
Now hit your delete key on your keyboard. And select none.
Now duplicate this layer so you have 3 of them. Now with your freehand tool you
need to draw a little selection right at the part of the fire that your deleted
(see example below)
Now add a new raster layer. Now we are adding this new raster layer because
later on we are going to add a drop shadow on to the flames for the fire.
And go to effects – plugins – EC 5 Nature- Fire
And use these settings:
Fire direction: 90
Column Length: 101.86
Flame width: 47
Waver: 21
Turbulence: 35
Flame Intensity: 100
Soften edges: 11
Start from bottom checked
Now if you want to play with the colors all you need to do is click the colors
tab and adjust them.
Then click “OK”
Now go to your next duplicate tube layer of the bear. Now you should still have
your marching ants. Now add another new raster layer. And go to effects – fire (
it should be showing up in the main drop down menu because it’s the last plug in
that you used. Now all you need to do is hit the random seed button. And click
“OK”
Now repeat this step with the third tube layer of the bear.
Select none.
OK.. Now on the first layer of flames…
Go to effects – 3D effects – Drop Shadow and use the settings below..
Offset
V: -7
H: 21
Attributes
Opacity: 31
Blur: 0.00
Color: black
Now add a drop shadow to each of the flame layers.
Now we are going to be doing some merging and duplicating..
Go to the top of your layer pallet, and make the top layer active, and merge
down. See how the flame and the bear are now merged into one layer? We are going
to do this to each of the flame and bear layers. So the next step is to make the
flame layer below the layers that we just merged, and merge down. Now you should
have 2 bear layers that are merged and one that hasn’t been merged with the
flames yet.
Now click on the last remaining flame layer to make it active, and merge down.
Ok, now go to the bluebird house tube, make that active, and merge it down so
your bottom layer and the house tube is now one.
Now when you look at your layer pallet, you should have the merged house layer,
the frame that we made earlier, and 3 layers of the bear.
Now duplicate your frame layer 2 times, and move them so you have one below each
bear layer. Below is an example of what your layer pallet should look like.
Now duplicate the bottom layer 2 times and move 1 below each of the bear layers.
(See example below)
Now merge down the bear and frame. Like you did before, and now your layer
pallet should look like:
Now highlight the bottom layer, and go to effects – plugins – VDL Adrenaline –
Snowflakes and use these settings:
Amount: 50
Size range to begin: 1
Size range to end: 14
Hardness: 100
Transparency: 0
Snow color: Basic snow
Random seed: 0
And click “OK”
Ok now make the next layer with the house active, and use the same settings as
before but change the random seed to 5
And do this with the last house layer (this should be the one near the top) but
change the random seed to 10
Now go to your top layer and merge down, then activate the bear layer, and merge
down, and do this with the last bear layer. You should now only have 3 layers.
Now we are going to add the text and watermark.
Now I used the font that I enclosed in the supply folder. But for these next
steps if you choose a different font you will need to choose a fat one and you
may need at adjust the steps according to the font that you chose.
Ok select your text tool and select the VertigoBRK font. Now I used Gold to do
mine but you can choose what ever color you want.
Set your color to the background, and create your text as a vector and type your
name, I used size 72 but you need to adjust it depending on the name, and once
you have your name, go to image – free rotate – and rotate your text by 90 to
the right, now make sure that you do not have the boxes checked that says all
layers and to rotate around the center. And click “OK”
Now convert it to a raster layer.
Now grab your magic want and click on the inside of your letters, and then add a
new raster layer now go to selections – modify – expand by 2 now flood fill the
inside of your text.
Now what I did next was I added the snow effect to this layer of my text.
If you are going to do this, you will need to duplicate the 2 layers of text
that you just made. So you have 3 copies of each. TIP – If you want to add an
inner bevel to your outline do it before duplicating it.
I did it where the snow is not on the outline of the text.
Using the settings below:
Amount: 44
Size range to begin: 1
Size range to end: 15
Hardness: 100
Transparency: 0
Snow color: Basic snow
Random seed: 0
And just repeat the steps like you did earlier.
And if you want to get even more creative, you can add a bit of sparkles to the
text on the same layer that you added the snow.
Now merge down your layers like we did before.
And the next thing you are going to do is arrange the text layers so you have
one above each of the tag layers, and then you will need to merge the text layer
down onto the tag layer, you will be left with 3 layers. Now save it as either a
.psp file or a psp image, depending on the version that you are using. And then
open it in Animation Shop.
When you have it open in AS if you want to slow the animation down, go to edit –
select all, animation – frame properties.
