Supplies Needed:
PSP 9,10
Animation Shop
MuRa's Copies
Supply Folder
Font of your choice
I used Alex Brush but this is a pay font, but a nice script font will do.
Ok.. got everything you need? This tutorial deals with a lot of layers, if you are not used to working with layers you may have trouble with it. Also in this tutorial you will be doing some flood filling with an animation, if you have never done a basic glitter signature then you may also have some trouble.
First off, make sure you install the brushes and the filter before opening PSP the brushes for version 9 are marked with a 49 in the file name.
1. Open the tubes that I supplied, and copy ( shift+D) and close out the original ones.
2. Open a transparent image of 400 X 350 pixels now flood fill this with the color #dab7ca.
3. Now go to selections ~ select all and add a new raster layer, copy the female butterfly fairy tube and paste it onto your new canvas "into selection" select none. Now duplicate this layer, and then hide the duplicate layer. And make the one below it active.
4. Go to effects ~ MuRa's ~ copies. And use the preset " Star Cluster"
5. Now on your layer pallet change the blend mode of this layer to "Soft Light"
6. Now unhide the top tube layer, and make this layer active.
7. Go to selections ~ select all… Selections ~ Modify ~ contract ~ 15
8. Now go back to selections ~ invert, now add a new raster layer. And flood this layer with #a5737d.. Add a new raster layer, and flood fill it with the gold pattern that I enclosed in the supply folder. now go back to selections ( you should have the marching ants still!) ~ modify ~ contract by 2… now hit your delete key on your keyboard. Select none. And merge all.
9. Now open a new transparent canvas of 600X500 pixels. Now flood fill this layer with #dab7ca and now copy the other canvas we just finished, and paste it as a new layer. Now duplicate it, and hide the top layer. And make sure that the duplicate layer is not active, you want the one below it to be active.
10. Go to effects ~ MuRa's ~ copies and select the preset afterimage ( rotate random) but you need to change the "Number" to 12 instead of 10. Now select your mover tool and move it over just a tad to the left, Now go to effects ~ 3D effects ~ drop shadow~ and use these settings: V:2 H:4 Opacity:51 blur:2 Color black
11. Now unhide the top layer, and move it to the left so it lines up with the layer below it. Then merge down.
12. Now select your brush tool, and find the butterfly brush, and the color you want to use is #a5737d and make the bottom layer active, and "stamp" the brush around the sides of the layer above, please see my tag above as an example. Now select the Dots brush and "stamp" this like you did the butterfly one, but change your color to #e3ccdb and as you move around your canvas, rotate the brush a little by little.
13. Now merge all
14. Now go to image and resize your canvas to 450 X 375 pixels.
15. Now grab the "stitches" tube, I have enclosed 2 one is a little shorter than the other, you may need to see which one is best for you but I used the small one. Copy it, and paste it onto your canvas as a new layer, and move it to the right, now grab the bow tube, and resize it to 75 X 53 pixels. Now copy it and paste it as a new layer, and move it over to the top of the stitches, and duplicate it and move the duplicate one down to the bottom of the stitches.
16. Now Merge all
17. Now open the butterfly tube and copy it, and paste it onto your canvas as a new layer, and move it over to the left top corner (See my tag as a guide). Now go to selections ~ select all…. Selections ~ float, now you should have the marching ants around the butterfly, add a new raster layer, and duplicate the new raster layer until you have a total of 8 of them, you can rename them A1 -A 8 (the letter A stands for "Animation") if you wish so you don't lose your place, because here is when we are going to be doing a lot of copying and pasting and flood filling.
18. Open AS and open the animation named "whiterain". You will notice that there are 8 frames to this animation, this is why we have 8 layers back in PSP.
19. Highlight the first frame, and copy it, now over to PSP, paste the frame as a new image.
20. Now highlight "1" and go to your color pallet, and pull up your patterns, and find the frame of the animation that you just pasted, and select that, now you are going to flood fill the inside of the butterfly with this, Now once you flood fill the butterfly, hide that layer on your layer pallet, and make the next layer active. And repeat the above steps above for each frame, ** TIP: delete the frame out of PSP after you flood fill the butterfly, so you don't loose track of where you are. Each time you paste a new frame you have to go to your patterns and select the new one, otherwise you will be redoing the same pattern.
21. Once you have flood filled all 8 layers select none.
22. Now highlight the butterfly layer, and duplicate it so you have a total 8 layers of them, I renamed them like I did before B1 -B 8 (the letter B stands for "butterfly") so I wouldn't loose my mind in the next steps.
23. Now, locate the layer A1, and move it on top of the layer named B1, and repeat this step for each animation layer, so when you look at your layer pallet, you will have the base layer and then B1,A1,B2,A2 and so on. Then once you have moved them into place, go to the top of your layer pallet, and highlight the top layer, and merge down, this will merge the A8 and the B8 together, do this to each set remember not to merge the 8 with the 7"s. you need to "merge down" each set, when you are done you should have the base layer and 8 layers of the butterfly "animation"
24. Highlight your bottom layer and add you text, if you create it as a vector, convert it to a raster layer, add any bevels, or drop shadows that you want to, then merge down.
25. Now go to the bottom layer, yes you guessed it, we need to make a total of 8 layers of this also. Rename these accordingly… example 1 - 8. Now remember we just moved the other layers so they matched up? You need to do this again. And then repeat step # 23.
26. Now save it as a .pspimage
27. Go to AS and open it, and animate it, and save it and you are done!
